Love Is Blind star Colleen Reed opened up about filing for divorce from Matt Bolton.

The Season 3 couple announced their split in May 2025 after almost four years together. At the time, neither shared the reason behind the split, requesting privacy as they navigated that "incredibly difficult decision."

But in a new episode of the What's the Reality? podcast, Colleen opened up about their marriage and why it ultimately ended.

She first shared that she and Matt were never fully settled on getting married, confessing they decided after "flipping a coin" the night before at a restaurant. After marrying, she says, their relationship was marked by a cycle of "high highs" and low lows.

"I would say we were always up and down since day one, and that's the one thing that ultimately led to our breakup," she said. "It was never consistently high. It was always these high highs, but never consistent."

Regarding the issues in their marriage, Colleen cited their differing values and priorities. "We would have a lot of issues in terms of what we wanted in life or what we valued in life," she shared. "I very much value community and friendships and family and quality time."

But while quality time is her "number one love language," she said it was not as important to Matt. "It was just like I wanted him to hang out with me, and we just wouldn't hang out," she explained. Clarifying that she wasn't asking for nightclubs or big outings, she added, "Just come hang out at a picnic table with a few of our friends, and let's be with a community. I have just always valued community, and I would just say that probably wasn't a priority of his at the time."

Despite all that, Colleen said they tried to make their marriage work. "There had been so many times where we were almost there, but we'd be like, 'No, let's just keep working on it.' And we would still keep working on it. And it's picking the point where it's like, no, we can't work on it anymore. We need to not be together anymore. It's just the right decision."

Adding to that was Colleen's desire to start a family. "I just turned 30, and we do have a clock ticking," she said. "And I want four kids. I want a big family. But I will not have kids with you until I know I am absolutely in love with you. I'll freeze my eggs, I'll be okay." She added that it was just "not working with him. And he probably thought the same as well."

The two officially decided to separate in November 2024, but waited to share the news until they were no longer living together. Colleen and Matt announced their split on May 24, 2025 — the same day she moved out of their marital home.

"That day was probably the hardest day of my life because it was so, so sad," she confessed. "But for us, I'm glad that we fought until we could, and I'm glad we decided to end things when we did...I just want complete and utter happiness, and I just wasn't getting that with Matt."
